42. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you 'squeeze' for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie.
They are:

Monday = Blue,
Tuesday = Green,
Thursday = Red
Friday = White
Saturday = Yellow.

So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

43. Don't forget Gatorade for Migraine Headaches. PowerAde won't work.

Now some things that i have learned that aren't on the list
(These are things i have discovered and learned of while living with my husbands parents so i have his mom to thank for most of these)
1. If you are out of Windex mix equal parts vinegar with water and it works just as well (doesn't smell as good but works)
2. To get rid of black mold (yuck) equal parts bleach and water. Extremely strong so don't let your kiddos in there while you are using it heck i usually use my shirt or sleeve to cover my mouth and nose and i hold my breath while spaying it, then i turn the fan on (cause it's usually in my bathroom, specifically the one corner in our shower) and i close the door. I usually let it sit for a minimum of an hour then i just rinse the shower with HOT water.
3. Making our own laundry detergent. My mother-in-law found this recipe online for it and it is awesome. However one small suggestion if you are extremly sensitive (which i happen to be) don't put stuff in it to make it smell good. My mother-in-law put some grapefruit oil in it so it would have a good smell to it and i had a horrible reaction to it so be careful. The ingredients are extremely easy and all under $20 and it is probably over a year of laundry detergent, my mother-in-law made her first batch i would say beginning of summer LAST year and it just barely reached the half mark. This lady used a large cookie jar and it fills it full. So here it is:
1 14lb 12oz box Borax found in the detergent isle
1 4lb box Arm & Hammer Baking soda found in the cooking isle
1 box Arm & Hammer Washing Soda found in the detergent isle
3 bars of Fels-Naptha soap, found in the detergent isle
2 small containers of Oxy Clean or store brand Oxy Clean try to get 3.5 lbs total found in the detergent isle (this is optional)

Mix it all together (obviously the soap bar is crushed up) and BAM you have laundry detergent
Use 1-2 Tablespoons per load. Trust me don't use more than that There aren't any fillers like the store bought laundry detergent has so you really don't need a ton. LIke i said before you can add stuff to it too make it smell good if you want but if you are like me and are extremely sensitive i would not suggest it i would just stick to the recipe. This laundry detergent is also HE friendly so if you Washer is HE (high-efficiency) no worries this wont harm it in any way if anything it is probably better for it because it is all natural no fillers.

The lady we got the laundry detergent recipe from has loads of recipes on her blogspot so if you have time to kill take a look at it. Who knows maybe you will come across something you have been looking for to try or maybe something will peak your interest and you will want to try it. :)

Like i said at the beginning of this post i look forward to anybody who reads this to please comment with your input of cleaning supplies you swear by and love or if their is something on the list that you have tried and just didn't list. I am looking forward to trying the Gatorade theory for migraines. I LOVE Gatorade and i am extremely prone to migraines so i will let you know when i try it if it works or not :)

RSV and Colds.

So this week started with a BANG it seems. On Monday we took Orin's mom to the airport and it seems whenever she leaves something ALWAYS goes wrong but usually car stuff. Well this time it turned out to be something completely different. It all started on Tuesday, Hannah got a little bit of a runny nose i didn't think too much of it. Then Camden developed a runny nose and a really bad cough and i thought well he has a cold for sure. Well tuesday night came and Camden was the same however Hannah had become worse she became extremely stuffy and devloped an extremely horrible cough i looked at Orin and told him first thing in the morning i am calling the doctor and taking them in. So 8 am rolled around Wednesday morning and i was on the phone, their pediatrician wasn't working at the clinic that day she was up at the hospital but the other doctor was willing to see them so in we went. While they where getting both kiddo's vitals and history of what was going on Hannah started coughing, the doctor was outside in the hallway and heard it she stuck her head in the door and said "Is that the baby i am hearing coughing like that?" We all replied in unison with "Yes" she looked at the nurse and told her she wanted a rapid RSV test done immediately it sounded to much like RSV so the nurse leaves and comes back in with a nose sucker the size of Hannah. The got a sample and did the rapid RSV, while the doctor was in talking with us the nurse came in and said "It was positive." my heart skipped a beat. I never thought i would have to go through a child having RSV, i became so scared because when you hear RSV all you hear are the horror stories people's babies getting admitted to the hospital being in there for days and even weeks and some of them don't make it. The doctor started looking Hannah over checking everything and then told us that Hannah was not bad enough to be taken to the hospital and admitted we had caught it in the first 24 hours. I finally was able to breath easy however the doctor said that she would probably get worse the next 5 days before she gets better and that it takes about 10 days before they are over it. She told us what to look for and when we really needed to be worried. They ordered us a medical grade nose sucker to use at home as often as she needed and gave us a prescription for the respiratory clinic at McKay Dee. She then looked at camden and told us he had a bad head cold and just rest and lots of fluid. SO home we went it is now sunday night and Hannah never got worse, but Camden however has had a fever as high as 102.5 :( so off to the doctor we go tomorrow he seems to be getting worse NOT better. All while this was going on i was beating myself up inside. All i could think of was this was my fault. It was my fault Hannah got RSV i could have been more careful, its my fault Camden has this really bad head cold. Then my husband pointed out to me that all the hand-washing, and hand sanitizer in the world can't stop those that take their kids to church, school, or play place when they are sick. That i can make sure Camden washes his hands before he touches baby sister and after he is done playing some where. As i thought about what my husband said it is true. If you think about it sometimes you just assume that people with say "Hey my kid has a runny nose, cough, or fever so i probably shouldn't take them to church, school, or out and about." but they don't and by the time you realize that their are kids sick it is too late to do anything about it. I'm not saying that every parent does it some just aren't aware that their child is that contagious and then their are some parents that simply don't care. So i hope that whoever reads this that has kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, take extra precautions, if you even suspect that your kid has a cold keep them home it is what is best not just for everyone they will come in contact with but it's best for them. And the sooner you catch RSV the better, don't put taking them to the doctor off the sooner you get them in there and figure out what is wrong the better. I am so thankful we were able to keep Hannah home with us and not have to have her admitted it is such a blessing. So everyone kids or no kids BE CAREFUL!!!  and those of you with kids don't think it can't happen to you because it can so beware of the signs.

Potty Training

So on Saturday as i was shopping around trying to figure out who has the best deals on diapers, wipes, and pull-ups i came to this conclusion i really don't want to buy pull-ups anymore. I just wish there was this magical button that i could push and BAM he is potty trained but unfortunately there is no such button. So i talked to my mother-in-law and she told me when potty training her kids she just put them in underwear 24-7 no pull-ups not even at night, instead she put a plastic protector on their mattress and made a few layers of bed sheet, plastic trash bags, bed sheet, plastic trash bags, etc. At first i wasn't sure that i wanted to try this but i figured well why not so far nothing is really working. so off to Target we went, we spent $9 dollars on a Vinyl mattress protector and got a really good deal on diapers and wipes. So anyways we are on day 3 and have only had 2 accidents both of which have been at night :) which is WAY better than how things where going. He is so excited know he even went all on his own today i only had to remind him to go 3 times today. It is so funny because he will go into the bathroom and all of a sudden i will hear "I did it!I did it!" and he will come running out of the bathroom giving me the thumbs up yelling "Mom i did it, i did it!" I could not be more proud of my little man. They grow up so fast that in a blink of they eye 3 years have come and gone. I love life and i love my little guy and i can't wait to see what happens in the next 3 years. :)

It has been awhile....

Well it has been awhile sense my last post... over 9 months to be exact! The last post was announcing we were expecting a baby. Well in the 9 months we found out that our bundle of joy was a girl and then we ended up having that baby girl. :) Hannah Marie was born November 16, 2012 she was 7 lbs. 9 oz 20.5 in long and we couldn't be more in love with her. Camden has been absolutely AMAZING with her!!! I am so impressed it is unbelievable how great he is with her which is awesome for me because i had my doubts and i was so worried. He is always willing to help in any way he can whether it is getting her binkie to throwing away diapers to climbing the side of the crib to ask her if she is okay and then running to get myself or Orin and saying "Hannah needs you now mom, come on." Camden has grown so much in the 2 short months Hannah has been here with us and i could not be any prouder. We had started telling Camden a few months before Hannah arrived that he was going to be a big brother and he was going to need to help protect her and i didn't think that it was really making any sense too him but boy could i be any more wrong. He has even become protective of kids that are smaller than he is. I had the biggest "Proud momma" moment ever a few days ago. We went up to Logan with Orin and while he was at school I went and had lunch with a friend and we went to Chic-fa-la so Camden could run around and play and we could catch up while chatting Camden was playing with some boys that were possibly 2 to 3 years older than he was which was completely fine. Than another little boy came in and he was 1 to 2 years younger than Camden and was extremely shy, he just stood in the corner. When this little boy got the courage to leave the corner and go play with some of the things on the wall the older boys pushed him out of the way. At this point Camden was just sitting on the stairs watching what was happening, now Camden i will openly admit is not always the nice one he can sometimes follow the crowd instead of being a leader. So i am sitting there thinking this is going to go 1 of 2 ways and i am really hoping that it doesn't go the way i think it is. All of a sudden Camden stands up walks over to these boys gets in between them and screams at the top of his lungs "That is not nice!" and he has his hands on his hips. From him screaming that the parents of these boys look and see what is happening and goes in there and drags their son's out of there. Camden then looks at the little boy and motions for him to come with him, the little boy just stands there. After about 3 or 4 tries Camden just looks at me through the window and shrugs his shoulders and has this discouraged look on his face, and he walks off and goes and climbs the play thing and comes down the slid. He motions for the little boy to follow him and finally this little boy starts to follow him. Anyway one thing leads to another and Camden helps this little boy climb all 4 stairs to the top and helps him over to the slid and gets him to go down. Pretty soon this man approaches me and says "Is that your son in there?" i told him yes it is, and he proceeds to tell me "Thank you so much for raising a little boy that will stand up for other." my eyes began to feel with tears as this man continues to tell me that he has been bringing his little boy to play places for over a year now and no matter how hard he tries he can never get him to leave the corner let alone go up the play place and down the slid. This mans eyes began feeling with tears as he told me how grateful he was for my little boy and that he was able to get his son to go up and then come down the slid not once but multiple times. After thanking me again he went and sat back down, when it came time to go because i had to go pick up Orin from school this little boy did not want my son to leave he keep trying to get him to go back inside to play it was the cutest darn thing i had ever seen and i could not have been prouder of my son in that moment!! Anyways that was my proud momma moment and i just had to share it. I will try to be better about updating the blog but i can't promise anything :)
